2. Pick Up Plastic

If you see rubbish lying on beaches, near open drains, or anywhere really, don’t just wait for someone else to pick it up.

Handy tips for picking up trash:

1. Small but seriously bad. It's the teeny pieces of plastic debris that cause major harm. To fish and birds this looks like food.
2. Look closer. Plastic can hide in many weird places, look a bit closer and you'd be surprised what you find.
3. Be safe. Don't pick up anything that could make you ill or cause harm.
4. Don’t forget to carry a spare bag. You'd be surprised where you'll find rubbish, especially on holiday.
5. You're not alone. Take a friend with you to help, or if it's an overwhelming amount of plastic contact your council, or organize a beach cleanup.
